Classical Theatre Company
The Classical Theatre Company was founded in 2007 in Houston, Texas by theatre professional John Johnston in order to fill a desperate need in the fourth-largest city in the country. Still to this day, CTC is the only professional theatre solely producing the classics on a year-round basis in the entire State of Texas. Focusing on producing plays or pieces of literature at least 100 years old, CTC has garnered many accolades and awards over the years. This was highlighted in 2016, when CTC was one of only seven theatre companies in the United States to win the prestigious National Theatre Company Grant Award by the American Theatre Wing (the organization that produces the Tony Awards).
The Classical Theatre Company is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, and as such, is reliant on the generosity of others to continue to bring high-quality classical drama to the stage, classrooms, and community of Houston.
